FOR A TREE THAT LASTS LONGER

Why should I water my Christmas tree?

There are 5 reasons to ensure your cut Christmas tree gets as much water as it needs throughout the festive season:

  1. Life. Your tree is still alive. Although it will die, there is no need to accelerate its fate. Regular watering helps to ensure your tree will last through into the New Year.
  2. Look. Regular watering will help to preserve a green and fresh look to your Christmas tree.
  3. Needle drop. Although many breeds sold today don’t suffer from needle drop as much as in the past, regular watering will minimise the loss of needles. As well as continuing to make your tree look fresh, it reduces the effort of clearing up those needles that pop up around your home.
  4. Scent. That magic pine scent in your home contributes to the special feeling of Christmas. To maintain the scent over the extended festive season, regular watering is strongly recommended. The tree that you have bought is still alive, and it will drink any water that you give it allowing it to continue to fill your home with its pine scents. The olfactory sense, or sense of smell, is one the most powerful senses in bringing to mind times past; it helps to evoke the childhood memories of Christmas so that everybody can share this special time.
  5. Extended festivities. Once upon a time people put their trees up on Christmas Eve and took them down twelve days later. Today, more and more people have their trees up for a month and more. Regular watering helps to keep your tree looking as good on New Years Day as it did on 1 December.
